WooCommerce

The getAddress() Address Autocomplete plugin adds New Zealand address autocomplete from LINZ's NZ Addresses to WooCommerce, on the block checkout and the classic [woocommerce_checkout] checkout. It is free; look-ups come from your getAddress() plan. The same plugin serves Australia from getaddress.io and Denmark from getaddress.dk: connect each country you sell to.

The plugin is in review for the wordpress.org plugin directory. Until it is listed, email support@getaddress.io for the zip.

What it does

Worked example

A shopper types 12 east st and picks 2/12 East Street, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010. The form fills in:

Address line 12/12 East Street
Address line 2Auckland Central
Town / CityAuckland
Postcode1010

Set up

  1. Install and activate the plugin. WooCommerce 9.9 or later.
  2. Open WooCommerce → Settings → getAddress() and press Connect getaddress.nz. Sign in, or sign up free, at getaddress.nz and allow your shop. The plugin is given a domain token for your shop's domain and an API key of its own on your default subscription, and address autocomplete is switched on.
  3. Tick the options you want: My Account, PO Boxes, order address check.

Prefer not to connect? Paste a domain token for your shop's domain and, for the order address check, your API key, then switch on Address autocomplete under WooCommerce → Settings → General.

Disconnecting

Disconnect getaddress.nz on the plugin's settings page, or under Connected shops in your console, stops the shop's key and domain token at once.

Costs

Suggestions are free. Each address a shopper picks is one look-up, and so is each order whose address is found. A PO Box is recognised without a look-up, and an address that isn't found costs nothing.

Postcodes

Postcodes are unofficial, not NZ Post's: see Data Attribution.

Privacy

What a shopper types is sent from their browser to https://api.getaddress.nz to answer it and is not kept. The order check sends only the delivery address (street, suburb, town or city, postcode), never a name, email or phone number. See the privacy policy.
